Screens across the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s headquarters have unexpectedly displayed a deepfake video of Donald Trump kissing and sucking Elon Musk’s toes.

The looping AI-generated footage appeared briefly on Monday morning after an apparent hack, accompanied by the message: “Long Live the Real King”.

Musk, one of Trump’s closest allies, was appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after spending approximately $US300 million on Trump’s re-election campaign.

On Saturday, Musk ordered federal workers to submit summaries of their accomplishments from the previous week or face dismissal, sparking outrage among civil servants.

Several cabinet members have reportedly advised employees not to comply with the order.

Monday marked the first day that all federal workers returned to the office full-time, following Trump’s order banning remote work for federal employees.

HUD staff reportedly struggled to identify how the monitors were hacked and eventually resorted to unplugging the screens to stop the video from displaying.

“Another waste of taxpayer dollars and resources. Appropriate action will be taken for all involved,” said Kasey Lovett, a spokeswoman for the department.

Since Musk’s DOGE administration took office, the group says it has been rooting out wasteful spending as part of Trump’s dramatic overhaul of government, which has included thousands of job cuts.

The billionaire has plans to replace tens of thousands of federal workers with AI.
