Nancy Pelosi: Democrat recovering from surgery at US military hospital after hip replacement surgery
US politician Nancy Pelosi underwent “successful” hip replacement surgery at a US military hospital in Germany and is now recovering, according to spokesman Ian Krager.
Ms Pelosi, the former speaker of the US House of Representatives, reportedly fell on a flight of stairs while in Luxembourg, according to media reports.
Ms Pelosi’s office has not disclosed details about the incident other than that she “sustained an injury during an official engagement”.

MS Pelosi had been scheduled to attend an event marking the anniversary on Saturday in the Belgian town of Bastogne, which was the scene of fierce fighting during the battle.
“Speaker Pelosi is grateful to US military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base and medical staff at Hospital Kirchberg in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness,” Krager said in the statement.
The Landstuhl base is located in western Germany, about 120 kilometres east of Luxembourg.
Ms Pelosi, a Democrat, continues to represent San Francisco in Congress. She stepped down from her senior leadership role in 2023 but continues to be considered one of the most influential members of her party.
Ms Pelosi was widely believed to have been the key voice who convinced President Joe Biden to withdraw from his re-election bid earlier this year.
