Newly released police documents have shed light on the disappearance of an American mother who vanished almost 15 years ago after appearing alongside her former fiance on a reality TV show.

Michelle Parker, 33, vanished on 17 November 2011 after she was last seen dropping off her three-year-old twins at their father, Dale Smith Jr’s, house, Daily Mail reports. Her body has never been found.

The day the Florida mum went missing was also the day the former couple’s dispute became public knowledge when a pre-recorded episode of The People’s Court featuring the pair aired across the United States.

The segment centred on a US$5,000 ($A7,000) engagement ring that had gone missing following the breakdown of their relationship.

Mr Smith, now 55, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder earlier this month on 14 October after detectives revisited the unsolved case.

A 46-page arrest affadavit outlines the evidence and witness accounts behind the allegations, including claims of previous violence, threatening remarks and a series of increasingly hostile exchanges between the former couple.

According to Orlando Police Department detectives, Ms Parker was allegedly strangled at Mr Smith’s residence on the afternoon she went missing.

Investigators pointed to a photograph showing scratches and abrasions on Mr Smith’s face after her disappearance, which they believe may have been defensive wounds inflicted my Ms Parker as she fought back.

According to Daily Mail, the affadavit also details an alleged history of domestic violence involving Mr Smith’s first wife in 2001 and later dishonourably being discharged from the military.

Another former fiance told officers Mr Smith repeatedly choked her, sometime until she lost consciousness, and threatened to kill her and her father.

A friend of Mr Smith also recalled him making a disturbing comment about two weeks before Ms Parker vanished, saying “I wish someone would kill this b.....”

The affadavit stated “Between October 1 - November 17, 20177, the suspect and the victim exchanged 1.013 text messages and 21 voice calls. The suspect never called or messaged the victim after November 17, 2011.”

Many of their exchanges reportedly concerned custody arrangements for their twins. Two days before Ms Parker disappeared, Mr Smith allegedly propositioned her for sex in exchange for money.

On the day she vanished, he reportedly texted “I’m sexually frustrated, lol.” Ms Parker then responded, saying “I’m sure you’re fine.”

Her mobile phone was subsequently connected to a cell mobile tower near Mr Smith’s neighbourhood, while surveillance footage placed her black Hummer outside his home about 3.18pm.

Phone and vehicle records indicated Ms Parker remained at the property for more than hour. However, Mr Smith allegedly told detectives she had only stayed for about 10 minutes.

Her Hummer was captured on traffic cameras shortly before 9pm with the bumper stickers advertising her tanning business removed. The vehicle was discovered the following day at a nearby apartment complex, with her purse inside.

Ms Parker’s phone was later recovered from Lake Conway, with investigators believing it had been thrown from a bridge and noted that messages on the device from the day before had been deleted up to 4.27pm.

In the affadavit, detectives concluded: “It is believed the suspect killed the victim in his house after days of offensive messages, declining sex for cash, the embarrassing People’s Court episode airing, and threatening to restrict his access to his children.”

Mr Smith maintains his innocence and he has not been convicted of Ms Parker’s death.
