Shannon O’Connor: California ‘party mum’ accused of hosting drunken teen sex parties at luxury homes

A wealthy California mother has faced court over shocking allegations she hosted wild high school parties where she allegedly watched intoxicated teens engage in sexual acts.
Shannon O’Connor, 50, is accused of providing alcohol to underage guests during her son’s 2020 birthday celebration at a rented luxury home in Santa Cruz.
Court documents obtained by the Daily Mail reveal that the so-called “Party Mom” regularly held out-of-control events for her son and other Los Gatos High School students soon after his middle school graduation.

During one particularly destructive night at the Santa Cruz beach rental, O’Connor allegedly served the group beer and liquor, resulting in about $9000 worth of damage. Security footage captured much of the chaos, including teens vomiting, chugging alcohol and smashing cans on the manicured lawn, according to KRON4.

The homeowner testified that the property was left in disarray after the weekend. “It’s a valuable property. We have two beautiful bathrooms. The boys peed everywhere around the yard … really acting like a bunch of hooligans,” he said.
Footage reportedly showed delivery drivers dropping off large quantities of alcohol while O’Connor appeared to be the only adult present.
“It just kept coming and coming. It was like 20 beers for each kid … copious amounts of alcohol,” the owner said, as reported by KRON4. “I was astounded.”
O’Connor allegedly refused to cover the damages until the homeowner threatened to sue.
Court filings also allege her so-called “party mom” behaviour extended to her $5 million Los Gatos mansion, where she reportedly hosted exclusive gatherings while her husband was away. Party invitations were allegedly reserved for freshman boys and girls she considered “pretty” and “trustworthy” enough to keep her parties secret.
“She would reject girls as guests by saying they weren’t ‘pretty enough’ or didn’t ‘put out,’” the documents said.
One witness claimed certain rooms in the home were designated for sexual activity. At one gathering in December 2020, O’Connor allegedly handed a condom to a teenage boy and pushed him into a room with an intoxicated girl who eventually locked herself in the bathroom to escape, according to authorities.
Prosecutors said that at another event, hosted on New Year’s Eve, O’Connor allegedly watched and laughed as a drunk teenage boy sexually assaulted a girl in bed. At the same party, she allegedly saw another intoxicated girl being assaulted in a hot tub while she could “barely hold her head above water.”
The court heard O’Connor used Snapchat to communicate with the teens through a group chat titled “Fox News” so their parents wouldn’t notice. She also allegedly helped some teens sneak out of their homes at night to attend her events.
Witnesses described O’Connor as acting more like a “popular girl” than a parent, chatting with students about sex and relationships.
One mother told the court she “100 percent trusted her.” “As a mom, I have guilt for not seeing signs sooner,” she testified.
O’Connor was arrested in October 2021 after police arrived to find 12 teenagers sleeping over at her Los Gatos home. She has since been indicted on 61 charges including child molestation, providing alcohol to minors, and child endangerment.
After spending four years in jail awaiting trial, O’Connor faces more than 30 years in prison if convicted, according to NBC Bay Area.
She has pleaded not guilty, and her husband has since filed for divorce.
