Australian scientists have proven that reverse ageing is possible through a study showing participants can rewind their biological age and slow the ageing process.

Australian scientists believe they have proven that reverse ageing is possible, with a studying showing participants can rewind the clock and decelerate the pace they age.

Father-of-three Iain MacInnes loves racing his human-powered vehicle, the Melbourne man powering through every second he can in a full and fast life.

“I’m now off racing way, way faster and fitter and stronger than I was in 2018,” he said.

His passion for health was driven by watching the decline of his parents.

“That was a bit sad. Dad was affected by Alzheimer’s and mum went with dementia. It was basically a 30-year train wreck,” MacInnes said.

Fighting genetics, MacInnes joined a study and discovered the secrets to ageing backwards.

“I came down from 57 to being 41 point something,” he said.

Led by Australian scientists, real-time results surprised even them.

“Better than what I could have imagined, as little as three months, people can actually make a really big shift,” researcher Dr Denise Furness said.

Small changes can make for a huge difference, researchers say.

There are five key elements to healthy ageing including eating whole foods and staying hydrated, moving daily including strength training three times a week, quality restorative sleep for at least seven hours, mindset work with stress management, and supporting our cellular batteries, the mitochondria.

“You can actually undo this damage. You can actually start to turn things around, repair and heal, and literally slow down the rate of ageing,” Furness explained.

And one element trumps all.

“One thing right now would be even thinking about sleep. That’s when the repair and the healing happens,” Furness said.
