Instagram rolls out major Reorder Grid update allowing users to rearrange profile posts
Instagram has quietly rolled out one of its biggest profile changes in years, giving users the power to rearrange their grid for the first time.
Instagram users are waking up to one of the platform’s biggest profile changes in years after a major update quietly rolled out without warning.
The social media giant has begun introducing a new “Reorder Grid” feature, allowing users to rearrange posts on their profile for the first time in Instagram’s history.
The update gives users the ability to move photos and videos around their profile grid, meaning posts are no longer locked into the chronological order in which they were published.

The new feature allows them to completely redesign the appearance of their profile without removing any content.
In effect, users can now rewrite the visual history of their profile without changing when posts were originally published.
Instagram has branded the feature “Your grid, your way”.
“First impressions matter and your grid is often the first thing people see,” the company said.
“Now you can curate it to reflect who you are right now.”
Users can access the feature by pressing and holding a post on their profile, selecting “Reorder Grid” and dragging content into a new position.
Importantly, the original upload date remains unchanged, meaning visitors scrolling through a profile may notice dates appearing out of order. Instagram also does not currently notify followers when posts have been rearranged.
The change is expected to prove particularly popular among influencers, content creators and businesses who use their Instagram profile as a digital shopfront and spend significant time curating the look and feel of their grid.
But the rollout has also sparked confusion.
Despite the feature beginning to appear for some users, Instagram have only made a singular “how to” post on their Instagram Creators profile. Even the latest App Store notes fail to mention it, instead stating only that the latest version contains “bug fixes and performance improvements”.
Adding to the mystery, not everyone can access the feature.
Many users reported updating their app only to discover the option was still unavailable.
“I don’t have this option yet, and I have updated my app,” one user wrote.
Another commented, “This is so handy, but it’s not working for me yet.”
Others were quick to celebrate a feature many users have requested for years.
“This solves all of my problems,” one person wrote.
Another simply said, “Yay, finally!”
The update marks a significant shift away from Instagram’s long-standing chronological structure and reflects the platform’s growing focus on personalisation, giving users greater control over how they present themselves online.
For now, however, many users are still waiting for the update to land on their accounts.
