TikTok rolls out voice messages, polls and photo comments in major update
TikTok is changing the way users interact in comments, with a major new feature allowing people to respond to videos using their voice.
TikTok is giving users more ways to interact in its comments, with a series of new features including voice messages, polls and photo carousels.
The social media platform announced the changes on Thursday, with several of the new tools set to roll out globally over the coming month.
That means Australian users will also be among those gaining access to the new features as they become available.

Users aged 18 and over will be able to tap a microphone icon in the comment box to record a message of up to 60 seconds.
Once posted, the audio can be played by other users directly from the comments section.
TikTok said the feature builds on the importance of sound on the platform, where music, audio clips and spoken content have become a major part of how users interact with videos.
The company is also introducing Comment Polls, giving creators the ability to ask questions and have followers vote directly in the comments.
Creators will be able to include up to five options in a poll and set how long voting remains open.
They will also be able to monitor the results as votes come in.
TikTok is simultaneously expanding the way users can share images in comments.
The new photo carousel comments feature will allow people to post up to nine photographs in a single comment, rather than being limited to one image.
TikTok said the change is designed to let users share more of an experience or moment through a series of photographs.
The platform has also introduced live photo comments, which allow users to post live photos from their camera roll.
That feature is already available globally, while voice comments and photo carousel comments are expected to roll out globally over the next month.
TikTok says more than 1.7 billion comments are posted on the platform every day, highlighting the scale of the conversations taking place beneath its videos.
The new tools are designed to make those conversations more interactive and give users more ways to respond without simply typing a text comment.
