One of the most respected voices in the media landscape will make his Channel Seven debut, with Tom Morris officially joining the network’s AFL and cricket stables.

Having spent more than a decade building his reputation as one of the industry’s leading news-breakers, Morris will join Seven’s AFL Sunday afternoon team starting with this weekend’s clash between Melbourne and Brisbane from 2.30 AEST, live on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.

Morris will also be hosting the Wednesday night edition of The Agenda Setters, alongside chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary, and will be the network’s chief cricket reporter when international cricket returns in August with Bangladesh’s tour of Australia.

“I actually can’t remember the last time I’ve been this excited for work. I’ve had April 16th circle in the calendar for a few months, so I can’t believe we’re here,” Morris told The West Australian.

“I have loved The Agenda Setters as a viewer – I think probably the most attractive thing about that show, aside from working with (Nick) Riewoldt and Mitch (Cleary), who are two guns, is building a show from scratch and crafting a show which you know that the ceiling is so high with a show like that on a Wednesday night.

“There’s a bit of review, but there’s a bit of preview, but you can really take it wherever you want with good interviews and things like that as well.”

Morris’ role will continue for Seven’s Test and Big Bash League coverage for the 2026-27 Summer of Cricket on Seven and 7plus Sport.

“I would argue that cricket was my first love, so the opportunity to work on international Test cricket is just completely ridiculous in my own mind,” he said.

“I understand that for most of the year, football is the heartbeat, but for a short time every summer, cricket becomes the conversation in pubs and bars and restaurants.

“And being able to hopefully lead that conversation with stories and narratives around the Australian men’s Test team and the Australian women’s team as well is just surreal.”

Morris said he joins Seven at an exciting time with the sporting news landscape only getting bigger.

“There are more jouros than ever, chasing the same stories; it’s more competitive than ever, and it’s not slowing down, so it is invigorating,” he said.

“I’ve had to come to the realisation a few years ago now that you, you probably miss more than you get in terms of the stories, but that makes it more satisfying when you do nail one.”

Seven’s head of AFL and sport innovation, Gary O’Keeffe, says Morris’ arrival will only strengthen the network’s powerhouse line-up.

“Tom has proven himself to be one of the best sport reporters in the country, and we cannot wait to welcome him into the 7AFL team this weekend,” he said.

“Joining the boundary team on Sunday afternoons, Tom will ensure viewers get the player insights and answers to the questions that matter most.”

Seven’s head of cricket, Joel Starcevic, said he couldn’t be more excited to add Morris’ expertise to the network.

“With a two-Test Series against Bangladesh in the Northern Territory and Queensland in August, all before an epic Summer of Cricket,” he said.

“Tom will fit seamlessly into cricket’s number one commentary team, and we look forward to hearing his expert commentary and ancillary reporting in our live match broadcast of Test cricket and the Big Bash League.”

Seven will also be integrating SEN’s and Morris’ The New Ball podcast, co-hosted with Bharat Sundaresan, to be simulcast on 7mate and streamed live on 7plus Sport daily before play of the Australia v New Zealand Test Series this summer.
