Bashed victim of Richmond star Noah Balta goes public with shocking injury toll

The victim's lawyer says his client has been left with life-long injuries after the punch-on with the AFL star.

There has been a twist in the Noah Balta assault scandal, with Balta’s victim releasing a video of himself and starting civil proceedings against the Richmond footballer.

In the video 27-year-old Thomas Washbrook appears bloodied, bruised and barely able to open his right eye.

“Look at the big cut on my head,” Washrook can be heard saying.

“I came out for a good night ... hang out with some 18-year-olds and I get f******* flogged the f*** out for no reason once again.”

Court documents will allege Washbrook was left with lifelong injuries at the hands of Balta.

The assault happened last December at a venue on the NSW-Victorian border.

Almost two months on, his lawyer, John Suta, says his client is also struggling mentally.

He alleges there are a number of the injuries Washbrook is suffering from, including psychiatric impairment as a consequence directly attributed to the assault, as well as nerves, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.

He said he was hoping to “negotiate an amicable resolution” with Balta, but the footballer and the club and didn’t respond.

In a statement, he said ”arrogant silence” was the reason why he starting the civil proceedings.

“Our client has incurred medical expenses, loss of income, damage to his personal effects to his mobile and telephone and clothing,” the statement, which sent to Richmond CEO Shane Dunne, alleges.

“Particulars of these damages are being compiled and will be provided as soon as possible.”

Balta was arrested the day after the attack, and was charged with assault.

He pleaded guilty to the assault and has been suspended for the first four games of the AFL season.

The 2020 premiership swingman will ultimately learn his fate next month when the magistrate sentences him.

Wasbrook’s lawyer is also suing Balta for damages.

“I’m still waiting on a return call from Mr Balta’s counsel,” he said.
