Ben Cousins joins Seven’s live and free coverage of Fremantle and West Coast Sunday home games

Brownlow medallist Ben Cousins has a new gig with the fan favourite joining Seven’s coverage of AFL matches in Western Australia.
Dipping his toe into footy commentary for the first time, Cousins will be joining AFLW icon Daisy Pearce for Seven’s live and free broadcast of every Fremantle and every West Coast home game on Sunday this year.
Cousins is not the only former AFL champion on the coverage, with ex-Eagle Mark LeCras and former Dockers skipper Shaun McManus also featuring.

It means WA voices and experts who have their eyes on our two favourite teams week-in and week-out will be talking footy fans through the action live from the venue.
The new broadcast team will be on deck for every Dockers and Eagles Sunday game at Optus Stadium this season, including the blockbuster Round 3 western derby.

Cousins’ first foray into broadcasting matches comes after his stunning rise as part of the 7NEWS team, where he has read the sports news and delivered in-depth analysis alongside Daniels, Adrian Barich and Anna Hay — who will also be part of the coverage.
The 2006 premiership hero and 2005 Brownlow medallist is one of the Eagles’ greatest-ever players, across 12 seasons and 238 games, before he shifted to Richmond for 32 games at the end of his career.
McManus is an inaugural Docker who went on to captain the club before his 228-game career made way for a life on the airwaves as one of Perth’s top radio hosts.
And Eagles goalkicking legend LeCras will run the rule over some of his teammates from the club’s famous 2018 premiership. LeCras kicked 441 goals from 219 games.
They will be kept in check by Daniels — one of the country’s best football reporters — and Readings, one of Perth’s most experienced and trusted callers.
Dani Shuey — a leading Perth broadcaster — will feature prominently from the boundary.
Each Sunday home game will also feature an exclusive pre-game and half-time show.
Seven West Media’s WA chief executive Maryna Fewster hinted the games would have a strong WA twist.
“WA footy fans will finally hear the voices they know and trust with a parochial call on the teams we love so much.” she said.
“This is a game-changer for fans, who can enjoy Perth games, called in Perth.”
The WA commentary team will call their first game when West Coast play the Gold Coast Suns at Optus Stadium on March 16 and their slate also includes Fremantle’s high-profile clash with Sydney the following week and the Eagles’ Good Friday date with Essendon.
Both derbies — on March 30 and then in Round 20 — will be covered like never before by callers who are experts on the players in WA.
