A Collingwood staff member has resigned from his role at the club after he reportedly performed a lap dance on an AFLW player on an interstate trip.

Rehabilitation manager Dean Filopoulos – who has been at the Pies for more than decade – was on a cultural immersion program trip to the Northern Territory when the incident occurred, CODE reports.

The NT trip included first-year players from both the AFL and AFLW programs along with staff members from both sides.

It is understood that Mr Filopoulos was a part of a group that had been drinking and dancing at an Alice Springs bar when the lap dance on a Collingwood AFLW player took place. The first-year Pie has not been named.

The camp was also attended by board members from the club, but they were reportedly not in attendance on the final night when the incident occurred.

In a statement released from the club on Thursday morning, the club confirmed that a staff member had resigned.

“Collingwood can confirm that an incident occurred during recent interstate travel that required investigation by the club,” the Magpies said.

“As soon as the club became aware of the incident, it moved quickly to address the matter and during this process, the employee involved tendered their resignation, which the club accepted.

“Our focus remains on supporting all team members and ensuring our environments remain professional and consistent with the values we stand for.”

The club has backed the program and that it is key to fostering meaningful connection with the local community, saying it was “part of the club’s ongoing commitment to cultural learning and community engagement.”
