Collingwood is sweating on scan results from a trio of their best players, including Nick Daicos, after Thursday night’s gutsy 14-point win over Fremantle at Optus Stadium.

The Magpies rested several of their senior players for the clash, having come off a five-day break from the previous round, but still managed to ground out a seventh win from their nine starts to take them to the top of the AFL ladder mid-way through Round 9, with other teams still yet to play.

Brayden Maynard, Jordan De Goey and Scott Pendlebury were all managed and are expected to come back next week, while Brody Mihocek missed with a minor abdominal strain.

But with some troops coming back, others may be sidelined, according to 7NEWS Melbourne’s Mitch Cleary.

“Some injury headaches for Collingwood out of last night’s win over Fremantle,” he said.

“Nick Daicos (pec), Jamie Elliott (abdominal) and Darcy Moore (shoulder) will all undergo scans.

“Given nine-day break, they’re on a few days off. Will be assessed early next week.”

Daicos spent a lot of time forward on Thursday and appeared below his best with just 18 disposals, albeit partly because of a close tag.

Asked by Channel 7’s Daisy Pearce after the game if he was was carrying an injury, Daicos tried to pour cold water over the suggestion, but then admitted he was sore before the game.

“Oh, nah, I’m good, I’m good,” he said.

“Little bit sore coming into the game but we’ve got great (medical) staff.

“It was just good to get moving and get playing today and it was nice to go forward.

“We’ve got so many players, like Jamie Elliott, that when you go down there, you feel really comfortable.”
