The social media influencer fiancée of Western Bulldogs defender Rory Lobb has explained why she was on the Brownlow red carpet without her AFL-playing partner on Monday night.

TikTok content creator Lexi Mary dazzled in a stunning iridescent dress at Crown Melbourne on footy’s night of nights, but she was conspicuously solo, with Lobb nowhere in sight.

Brownlow invites are notoriously exclusive, with only a select few players from each club, and their dates, lucky enough to score one.

And while Mary didn’t have a seat inside the Palladium at Crown, she was there on the red carpet holding a microphone for a newspaper.

“Oh my gosh, that was the best experience ever,” she said in a video on Monday night.

“I had so much fun, I got to interview so many people.

“I was kind of just there with my little microphone asking them fun questions. I tried to avoid any super serious, actual footy questions, and I just made it a bit of fun, which I actually think people really enjoyed.”

Bulldogs captain and perennial Brownlow contender Marcus Bontempelli was one of six players invited from the Kennel, along with Tom Liberatore, Bailey Dale, Ed Richards, Mark of the Year winner Sam Darcy, and Mark of the Year nominee Buku Khamis.

“Not every player gets invited to the Brownlow,” Mary went on to say in her video.

“Only a few from each team get invited every year, and then that’s also dependent on who got Mark of the Year nominations, if you’ve got Rising Star nominees — all of that, they fill in certain spots — and then the captain always gets a spot.

“And then the other people are based on who’s going to poll the most votes.

“I hope that addresses some questions; some people are like, ‘Where’s Rory? Why is Rory not with you?’

“I went to go do work and Rory’s at home with our babies, so that’s that.”

Mary also revealed she had a stumble on the way in and, despite quickly recovering, has the “battle scar” to prove it.

“As I was heading in — I literally have battle scars — I slipped down a hill, fell in my dress, in my heels, with my little camera, which is what I vlog my YouTube videos on and it’s now broken,” she said.

“Quite a few people saw me (fall), but they were like, ‘That was very graceful, the way you just got up and kept strutting in’, but oh my god, it was so embarrassing. Of course that happened to me.”
