Hawthorn fans have poked fun at trade rumours linking West Coast young gun Harley Reid to the club, donating to the club’s new facility fundraiser under his name.

The Hawks are aiming to raise $2 million in a 24-hour blitz ahead of the move to their new Dingley headquarters, the Kennedy Community Centre, later this year.

Supporters and members are encouraged to donate funds to ensure the facilities feature “every piece needed by the club’s players and coaches to claim Hawthorn’s 14th AFL premiership, and first AFLW flag,” the fundraiser statement reads.

While most donors have used their real names, others have gone rogue.

One contributor, named “Harley Reid” has donated $4 with the message: “See you guys at Dingley - for my fund.”

There was also a $16 contribution titled “The Harley Reid fund”.

The Hawks are among a number of Victorian clubs with strong interest in the former No.1 pick, who is expected to draw offers from rivals for up to $2 million per season, despite being contracted until next year at the Eagles.

Rumours of a potential move were sent into overdrive when The West Australian published an image of Reid sitting next to Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell at premiership Eagle turned Hawks defender Tom Barrass’ wedding earlier this year.

But Reid isn’t the only name that has shown up on the club’s fundraiser.

A donation from “Zac Butters”, impersonating Port Adelaide star Zak Butters, also donated $4.

The message attached to that donation was “chipping in to get me to the club.”

Another donor chipped in $200 under the name “Bailey Smith” with a cheeky swipe at the Geelong recruit.

“Just some extra third payments left over from the Cats for my boyhood club!,” the message wrote.
