In-demand Sydney Swan Chad Warner reveals pull of home remains strong as contract talks drag on

Sydney superstar Chad Warner has not ruled out a return home to Western Australia, declaring he’s “still got a lot to weigh up” before making a decision on his future.
The 23-year-old remained in Perth following the Swans’ win over Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Sunday, as speculation mounted he was closing in on a new deal with the club.
Warner is out of contract at the end of the season and has a two-year extension on the table from last year’s grand finalists.

“To be honest, I’m not too sure,” Warner told 10 of his decision.
“I know obviously that’s there (the deal with the Swans) and that’s something I’ve got to think about too.
“But I’ve still got a lot to weigh up and obviously enjoyed my time back home here a lot.
“So I think it’s going to be hard for me and I think that’s why I just wanna keep my mind open, as I’ve said before, and just let the year play out.”
Warner grabbed at his jumper following Sydney’s three-point win over the Dockers, in what many speculated to be a hint he was poised to stay at the club.
Despite multiple reports suggesting Warner was set to re-commit to the Swans for another two seasons, he said he hasn’t ruled out a move home.
“Nothing’s closed off,” he said.
Warner also appeared to give a nod to his preferred club, or at least his preferred teammate, when asked who he would be supporting in Sunday’s western derby.
“I want to see Harley (Reid) get a win this week, so I’ll be going for him,” he said.
