Jack Viney and Judd McVee are the latest Demons to go down at training, just weeks out from the opening round of the AFL.

Viney has injured his ribs, while McVee appeared to tweak his hamstring at training on Wednesday.

He was helped off the field by trainers before being driven away in a buggy at AAMI Park, The Herald Sun reports.

Melbourne Football boss Alan Richardson was quoted as saying “fingers crossed it’s not significant”.

McVee had been playing at half-back.

Viney has been dealing with sore ribs since last week, while Christian Salem and Caleb Windsor missed training through illness.

The injuries are another setback for the Demons who are looking to rebound from a horror 2024 season where they missed the finals and were constantly in the headlines over speculation Christian Petracca wanted to be traded, as did Clayton Oliver.

Petracca missed most of the season after breaking several ribs and puncturing a lung against Collingwood midway through the season.

He recommitted to the team late in the year before cracking a rib during this off-season last month.

Melbourne skipper Max Gawn injured his throat during training in December, sidelining him for more than a month.
