HALF-TIME: Brisbane 60, Gold Coast 35

The Lions got their claws out in the second term with six goals to one.

Gold Coast evened up the tackle numbers but mostly because the Lions are coming first all over the ground.

The Suns desperately clung on for the last five minutes and the main break comes at a good time.

Anderson, Rowell and Miller lead the way for the visitors but no one else is dominating.

Witts is doing well in the ruck taps but has only four disposals.

King was starved in that term with Suns having had 11 less inside 50s.

Dunkley has laid 10 tackles for the half, leading the way for Brisbane.

Prime movers

Will Ashcroft and Hugh McCluggage have been huge in this term.

McCluggage had 14 disposals for the match last week but has already managed 15 today to go with four clearances.

Meanwhile, Ashcroft adds a goal to his 14 disposals and five clearances.

Hardwick may need to consider some defensive options in the middle for the Suns.

Goal of the finals?

Raynor take a bow!

He is having some big moments but brushing aside two tackles, sprinting five steps and rolling through a goal from 80 metres is ridiculous.

It was a risky switch kick that got knocked to ground that laid the platform.

Thick and fast

We have one goal apeice in the second and we’ve not even burned through four minutes.

Morris started the term with a nice chest mark and banana goal before Rowell split the big sticks with a 40-metre set shot.

This has the hallmarks of a good finals contest!

Meaningful moment

It’s been a tough week for Callum Ah Chee.

He had to travel to Perth ahead of the final to farewell his uncle before his passing.

The forward is wearing a black armband and dedicated his first-quarter major to his uncle.

QUARTER TIME: Brisbane 23, Gold Coast 22

The Suns kicked the first two goals but it didn’t take the Lions long to respond.

They have not put it on the scoreboard but they are dominating the clearance and tackle counts and have turned that into four extra inside 50s.

They even lead the free kick count by four.

But the goals are not on the board and the Suns have made the most of their chances with elite ball movement.

McCluggage is the leading ball winner on the ground with eight alongside Anderson.

Otherwise, the efforts have been shared around.

Clubhouse leader

King becomes the Suns all-time leading goal scorer at just 25 after another strong mark.

His match-up on Gardiner will be a worry for Chris Fagan with the Lions already outclassed three times in a marking contest.

Clearance fog

The Lions have four clearances to zip but have not been able to score from them just yet.

However, they have found their feet with set plays.

Zorko is orchestrating from half-back beautifully and the Lions have done well at ground level inside 50.

The Suns have missed their last couple of chances.

King sings!

The Suns grab the first major after a strong overhead mark from King going back with the flight.

It’s his 70th of the campaign and he braved an approaching pack.

The set shot was from 20 out and he made sure to sink it.

Bouncedown!

The tackles are laid straight away as the Suns line up in the pink and the Lions maroon.

Brisbane go forward first through a free kick but it runs through the behinds.

Keep an eye out for Zorko and Miller, they hate each other!
