One of the AFL's most powerful agenda-setters is back where it all began, and he's headlining a blockbuster new Monday night show.

Sandy Brock, the nephew of late Australian Bathurst 1000 legend Peter, joined West Coast training for the first time on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old is one of two axed players, alongside former Eagles defender Coby Burgiel, vying for a rookie lifeline after securing a train-on spot over the summer.

Brock, drafted out of Peel Thunder but originally from Darwin, was delisted by Gold Coast at season’s end without playing a game for the Suns as an academy pick-up.

At 198cm, Brock could add key defensive depth to the club following the departure of premiership player Tom Barrass to Hawthorn.

He was thrown straight into the action during his first session at Mineral Resources Park, taking part in skills, fitness and one-on-one drills, lining up on young ruckman Harry Barnett on several occasions.

It comes as promising key defender Rhett Bazzo remained on limited duties following an off-season trip to Qatar.

Bazzo comes out of contract at the end of next season, having been sidelined for most of 2024 with a groin injury.

Two weeks after suffering a head knock at training, West Coast star Harley Reid showed no lingering signs of concussion as he got struck into his first full pre-season.

The 19-year-old, who was in concussion protocols when he returned to training last week, spent plenty of time with Eagles recruit Jack Graham on Wednesday.

Later in the session, Reid was spotted running laps with Geelong premiership star Harry Taylor, who joined West Coast earlier this year as a leadership consultant.

Reid grew up a Cats supporter, growing up in the country Victorian town of Tongala.

Meanwhile, West Coast co-captain Oscar Allen was on light duties, joining a host of players in the rehab group.

The 25-year-old, who also travelled to Qatar last month following an injury-interrupted season, spent the early part of the session walking laps alongside Elijah Hewett, Jack Petruccelle, Jack Hutchinson, Brady Hough and Callum Jamieson.

As the rest of the playing group ramped up training, the majority of the group headed to the sheds.

Allen was restricted to just 11 games last season as he battled a knee injury.

The star forward remains out of contract beyond 2025, with negotiations on a new deal with the Eagles ongoing.
