The Perth Scorchers are in action needing to win to stay alive in the finals race - after the Renegades did them a massive favour in chasing down a big target against Brisbane.

Perth will have to chase down whatever Adelaide make inside 18 overs, and then have Hobart beat the Melbourne Stars tomorrow, in order to play BBL finals.

SCORCHERS ALIVE

Most of Perth’s players are warming up out in the middle of Optus Stadium, and the preceding game is not being shown on the big screens.

But they’d be loving what’s happening on the other side of the country!

The equation is 36 off 32 for the Renegades to win, as Harry Dixon becomes Melbourne’s fifth player to depart. Fraser-McGurk is still at the other end on 89 off just 40 balls...

Renegades hanging tough

Meanwhile, the Renegades lost two wickets in two balls thanks to Brisbane’s Spencer Johnson in the power surge - but importantly, Fraser-McGurk remains at the crease!

He’s now 80 - his highest-ever BBL score - and the equation is 54 needed from 40 balls to keep Perth’s season alive. Six wickets in hand.

Scorchers WIN the toss

Meanwhile, at Optus, the Scorchers have won the toss and will chase!

Perth have gone with youth over experience for their big clash, with AJ Tye again overlooked and Mahli Beardman in the line-up. Matt Spoors is also in the attack.

SCORCHERS XI:

Allen, Fanning, Hardie, Connolly, Turner, Hobson, Agar, Spoors, Behrendorff, Morris, Beardman.

Fraser-McGurk going beserk!

Jake Fraser-McGurk is COOKING - and the Scorchers are loving it!

He’s up to 70 off just 29, and the equation for the Renegades is just 68 off 54 balls to win and keep the Scorchers alive.

Renegades on track

Melbourne are motoring in their chase of 197 - and it’s thanks to Jake Fraser-McGurk!

The young tyro has powered the Renegades to 2-108 at the halfway mark of their chase. He’s blasted 54 off just 25 balls at the break.

Can he be the hero the Scorchers need to keep their season alive?

Welcome

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of a BIG Saturday arvo of BBL!

The Scorchers are eyeing a finals berth - but of course need a few things to go their way.

They need to beat Adelaide in the match starting here at Optus Stadium at 5.15 local time, and need Hobart to beat the Melbourne Stars tomorrow... but before all that, they also need the Melbourne Renegades’ help in keeping them alive.

The Gades are chasing a huge target of 197 against Brisbane at Marvel Stadium, but are making a very good fist of it...
