Mulder hanging in

Lyon slips one past Mulder and the Aussies all go up.

The umpire says no and they choose not to review with the ball likely spinning past leg stump.

SA 4-110

Counter attack

Stubbs has come to the wicket and is trying to put the pressure back on Australia.

Cummins dropped short and he pulled and then the Aussie skipper went slightly full and gets driven.

The Aussies answers with a darting off-cutter that nearly rips the South African in half.

Stay tuned, this is getting good!

Game on!!!!

Bedingham has been in the late 40s for an age and his patience finally succumbs.

Cummins bowls back-of-a-length and the first-drop batter tried to drive off the back foot.

His outside edge flies into the cordon where Smith takes another cracker to take the Test match catching record back off Joe Root.

SA 4-99

Complete change

The South Africans have gone from scoring at four runs an over to barely two since Lyon has come on.

The pitch is flat but the wiley GOAT still has it.

Stubbs and Bedingham are still finding their way in the Test areana as well so time to make in-roads.

SA 3-97

Lyon strikes!

The GOAT has his first!

And it was brilliant from Smith at slip.

Bavuma, who averages 53 as captain, went for the reverse sweep.

Smith read the batters mind and moved to his right.

The flight and bounce beat Bavuma and the ball caught the top half of the bat and Sumdge was perfectly placed for the catch.

Danger man

Lyon has found his rythem and the flow of the innings has suddenly become much harder for the hosts.

Cummins is also getting some movement from the other end and keeping Bedingham at bay on 48.

SA 2-91

Found it!

Lyon has found his line, length and speed.

He has added some flight and dropped the spin back and got three balls to spit at Bavuma.

One spun off the pads to Renshaw at short leg and generated a small appeal.

SA 2-85

Markram falls!

Just as the commentators showed highlights of Markram’s great driving off the front foot, he tried to do it off the back foot and nicks Starc into the slips.

Australia were desperate for a wicket as the home side looked at ease.

Markram out for 37.

SA 2-84

Half chance

Bedingham flicks Lyon into the leg side and it brushes the hand of Renshaw before thudding into his leg under the lead.

Might count as a drop if the Aussies can’t get a break through soon.

SA 1-82

Leaking

The South Africans have now upped the run rate to more than four and over.

They are feasting on Starc as he searches for movement.

It’s been a while since the Aussies were faced with a flat deck but they’ve now seen two in three Tests and have not coped.

Short ball tactics won’t be far away.
