Australian Formula 1 star Daniel Ricciardo is reportedly just days away from his final race with Red Bull.

The Perth-born driver’s spot in Red Bull’s second team - Visa Cash App RB - has been under the microscope as he struggles to regain the form that once made him Australia’s premier driver.

That title now belongs to Victorian Oscar Piastri after his second F1 win in Baku on Sunday.

Ricciardo, who has a record eight Grand Prix victories and 32 podium finishes, remains without a contract for the next season.

The grid heads to Singapore this weekend before a month’s break leading into the US GP in Texas. It has been speculated Red Bull will axe Ricciardo during the break and could announce the change as soon as Sunday night, immediately after the Singapore GP.

Red Bull chief advisor Helmut Marko told reporters during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix that New Zealand’s Liam Lawson would be driving for the Visa Cash team alongside Japan’s Yuki Tsunoda in 2025.

Lawson is understood to be eager to get started and reportedly has a clause in an agreement to join another team if he is not racing by September 2024.

Auto Racing 1 reported Ricciardo will be cut before the US GP on October 19.

“Sources tell us Australian Daniel Ricciardo will be dropped from the team and Yuki Tsunoda will remain to drive alongside Lawson,” veteran Formula 1 reporter Mark Cipolloni said.

“Red Bull gave 35-year-old Ricciardo enough time to completely dominate Tsunoda, but he has not been able to, so it’s time to pull the plug.”
