Sydney FC have secured the services of fullback Kirsty Fenton for another two years, with the club placing faith in the youngster’s recovery from a long-term injury.

The 20 year-old had become a mainstay in the championship-winning side, making the left-back spot her own and pushing into national team contention over the last two years, having already represented Australia at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2022.

Fenton enjoyed a breakout season with the Sky Blues, before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury late in the campaign which ruled her out for a year. Ante Juric’s Sydney have put faith in Fenton’s recovery, securing her for two more years, with Fenton saying she’s “blessed” to be at the club under Juric.

“It’s exciting to sign for two years, I’m blessed to be here under Ante [Juric] and in this environment with the girls,” she told the club’s website.

Fenton targeted early 2025 as her return to the pitch following her injury, commenting her rehab is going smoothly. and is still on-track.

“It’s progressing really well and I’ll hopefully be running in a month, so we are looking on track.

“A few weeks after that I’ll be able to kick the ball and build up the speed, but the plan is to be back in January or February.”

Fenton has made 36 appearances for Sydney FC since 2022, including three appearances in Uzbekistan for the AFC Women’s Club Championship in late 2023.

Her finest moment at the club came when she scored the opening goal in the first Sydney Derby of the 2023/24 season in front of a record-breaking crowd.

Meanwhile, The Sky Blues are yet to confirm the futures of Matildas Jada Whyman and Cortnee Vine, as well as internationals Fiona Worts and Grand Final goalscorer Shea Connors.
