Trainer Ciaron Maher, who trained Bella since May 2001, paid a classy tribute.
“Bella was one of the most consistent and toughest racehorses I have had the pleasure to train,” Maher said.
“She has given me some of my biggest thrills in racing and has had a wonderful career.
“I feel honoured to be part of her journey and the last 12 months have shown the true makings of a genuine Australian sprinter.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to Bella’s owners; the Christian, Porter, Johnston and Ingersole families, her jockey Craig Williams, her fans, our team and everyone who has supported her incredible journey. Thank you, Bella - you have given us memories to last a lifetime.”
Bella broke through for her first Group 1 win at the Manikato Stakes in October 2022 before a string of near misses at the top level.
Quickly rising the ranks as one of Australia’s premier sprinters, she cemented her standings with a stunning victory in last year’s The Everest.
Her final start came in the Group 1 Champions Sprint at Flemington last spring, where she finished third behind Sunshine In Paris and Right To Party.
