The 21-year-old was behind the wheel of a Ford Ranger that hit a Toyota Camry in Bardon in October.

Troubled Broncos star Ezra Mam has been charged after he crashed his Ford Ranger utility into an Uber in Brisbane on October 18.

Mam allegedly returned a positive result for a roadside drug test at the time, and he was detained for further blood testing which was conducted independently at a hospital.

It will now be alleged the secondary test returned a positive result on Tuesday, November 12.

Mam has now been charged with one count each of driving while ‘relevant drug present in blood’ and driving while unlicensed.

He has also been issued with a traffic infringement notice for failing to maintain control of his vehicle.

Mam is due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 16.

The 21-year-old has since checked himself into rehab after discussions with his management team and Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy.

On Wednesday afternoon, Donaghy said that his club had been notified about the latest developments.

“We will respect the legal process and will continue to work with the NRL Integrity Unit on next steps, as this matter moves forward,” Donaghy said in a statement.

“Ezra is currently seeking external support and we will give him the time and space to do so.

“As the matter is now before the courts, we are unable to make further comment on this matter.”

Just days after the crash, Mam’s management released a statement saying the 21-year-old would ‘immediately’ get professional treatment.

“Ezra is extremely remorseful,” Mam’s management said in the statement.

“He is concerned, first and foremost, for the other parties involved and understands the enormity of the current situation.

“He acknowledges he’s facing some personal challenges and, following these recent events, has taken a proactive step by seeking immediate professional treatment.”

Following the crash it came to light that a woman and her four-year-old daughter were in the Uber when the cars collided.

They were both taken to hospital, as was Mam, but no one was seriously injured.
