South Sydney Rabittohs player Jai Arrow has married his partner Berina Colakovic in a joyful Italian ceremony, months after the NRL star was diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

Arrow and Colakovic, who share 1-year-old daughter Ayla, were engaged in Sicily in 2024 and married in a civil ceremony in Sydney in July.

The couple returned to Sicily for a second wedding at the luxurious Borgo del Carato resort in the island’s south-east on October 10.

The wedding was set in the Borgo del Carato’s 19th-century farmhouse, with 65 of the couple’s family members and friends in attendance from Australia and Colavic’s home country of Canada.

Arrow and Colakovic held a Mafia-themed rehearsal dinner on October 9, where the bride-to-be wore a custom corset and skirt from Hera Couture.

For the ceremony, Colakovic wore an elegant strapless gown, Christian Dior heels, and a sweeping intricate lace veil, while Arrow donned a cream suit jacket and bow tie.

“Sicily has this beautiful, almost timeless romance to it, and Borgo del Carato felt like somewhere we could completely escape the rest of the world,” Colakovic said in an interview with Vogue.

“It was one of those rare moments when you wish you could stop time.”

She wore a white sequined halterneck dress for the reception, which was made by Australian label Dio Official.

Arrow was tragically diagnosed with MND in May this year just one year after the birth of their daughter — the diagnosis has forced the NRL star to retire after 100 games.

“Our lives have changed enormously over the past two years,” Colakovic said.

“We’ve become parents, navigated incredible highs and faced challenges we never could have anticipated.”

The couple will be travelling to Bodrum on Turkey’s southwest coast for their honeymoon.
