Reece Walsh drinks toilet water as Brisbane Broncos respond to bizarre video
The Brisbane Broncos have been quick to explain the context behind a video posted to social media by star fullback Reece Walsh which, at first glance, appears foul.
Fresh off his dominant performance in the Broncos’ win over North Queensland on Saturday, the 23-year-old set alarm bells off on Monday when he filmed himself drinking the water of a toilet and posted it online.

“You know, just get a little drink,” he adds, going back for more as he says it.
In a statement, the Broncos have swiftly clarified that Walsh is in the process of completing a home renovation, and the freshly installed toilet had never been used.
“Brisbane Broncos are aware of a video posted by Reece Walsh on a social media platform,” they said.
“The club can clarify that Walsh is currently renovating his home and has installed a brand-new toilet in a new bathroom which remains unused.
“The video represents a poor attempt at humour posted privately by Walsh. No one should take this video seriously or act upon the advice.”

Regardless, the stunt was, at best, indeed “a poor attempt at humour”, but at worst, another social media brain fade just three months after his last one.
In May, Walsh was seen willingly punching a mate in the head in a video posted to his own TikTok account,. with the vision infuriating Broncos bosses.
Walsh took it down not long after and later apologised.
“The club has addressed the video involving Reece Walsh, which was posted on social media,” the Broncos said after their investigation into the incident at the time.
“Walsh today met with the club management about the matter and apologised for his lack of judgement.
“He has also offered to make a donation to the Black Dog Institute.
“The Black Dog Institute has partnered with the Brisbane Broncos for a Mental Health awareness campaign, which will see the NRL squad play in a Black Jersey on June 7 in a dedicated Mental Health Round, to shine a light on an important issue in our community.”

Walsh said he “went too far” and admitted it was not a good look.
“I feel like I could choose them (actions) a lot better I guess,” he said in May.
“I feel like just having a laugh with my mate and putting it on social media, stuff like that, it’s really important to try and keep those things away (from social media). We don’t support violence.
“(I was) just having a laugh with my mate, obviously. You know we don’t support violence and stuff like that, but obviously, it’s not a good look for myself and that was all me trying to have a laugh and a good time with friends.
“There’s a really cool jersey coming out that we should be talking about and not letting this overshadow it.”
Walsh’s latest misdemeanor is exactly the distraction coach Michael Maguire doesn’t need with the Broncos’ top-four hopes on the line this weekend against Melbourne.
A loss, it must be said, would flush their shot at a double chance down the... toilet.
