AFL great and Channel 7 commentator Dale Thomas and his wife Natasha have announced they are expecting a baby.

The announcement comes a year after they tied the knot at a star-studded wedding in Dunkeld.

The happy couple told family and friends of the exciting news over Christmas before announcing to the world on Monday.

“Tash and I could not be happier to be welcoming our baby into the world in August,” Thomas said.

“Last year started with the high of our wedding and ended with this fantastic news.

“Telling loved ones over the Christmas period made for some wonderful memories and some brilliant reactions, and we will treasure this forever.

“This next chapter has us both so excited.

“As happy as we are to be sharing this great personal news, we also want to acknowledge and send big love and thoughts to those who are still waiting for their baby joy.

“We appreciate how difficult and sensitive it can be.”

The couple recently celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary.

Thomas paid tribute to his wife with a classy social media post last month.

“A year ago today I was equal parts excited, emotional, nervous and so incredibly happy to stand in front of our favourite people waiting for you to walk down the aisle,” he said.

“As the photos show you were a vision in that dress, I was a sobbing mess and your dad looked as proud as punch to be walking beside his baby girl. To think that was a year ago is somewhat mind-blowing, but the memories and love from those few days are still as real as ever.

“I am so grateful we found one another and that I get to have you by my side for forever. 1 year down a life time to go, I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Love you xx.”

Thomas will play a key part in Channel 7’s expanded AFL coverage this year.

He will be a part of the new show Agenda Setters on Tuesday night and will be a regular expert on Friday night footy.

The 37-year-old enjoyed a standout career for Collingwood and Carlton, playing 258 games and kicking 155 goals.

He was a member of the Magpies’ 2010 premiership team and made the 2011 All-Australian team.

After his career ended in 2019, Thomas transitioned seamlessly into the media where has since risen the ranks to become of the leading expert commentators.
