A junior driver fought for her life for two days after a sickening crash in a drag-racing event.

Elienisse Zoe Diaz Rodriguez had just turned seven when she took part in the Orlando Speed World Dragway in Florida on Sunday (US).

The Orange County Fire Rescue squad rushed to the dragway after receiving a report of an “incident between a car and a person”.

Reports show the racing prodigy was transported “as a trauma alert” to the Arnold Palmer Hospital while another patient was transported on advanced life support to Orlando Regional Medical Centre.

A third person was also involved but did not have life-threatening injuries.

According to a gofundme tribute, Elienisse was “fulfilling her dream” by driving as a junior dragster.

“After fighting for her life for two days, the doctors confirmed her brain death at 10.54 pm, February 4 (US),” the tribute said

“On behalf of Elienisse Zoe Díaz Rodriguez’s family, we created this gofundme to commemorate the life of our beautiful princess. All funds collected will be used directly to cover funeral costs and celebrate her life.”

Elienisse’s school (Eastland Christian School in Orlando) was devastated by the news.

“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved first-grade student, Elienisse Diaz, has passed away,” the school said the morning after her death.

“She was a bright light in our school community, and we are thankful for the time we had with her. Her beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all of us.

“We ask that you join us in lifting them up in prayer and support.

“May we surround them with love and comfort as they navigate through this unimaginable loss.

“We will hold Elienisse’s memory close to our hearts.

“Thank you for your understanding and support as we come together to mourn this loss and remember the joy she brought to all of us.”
