Rising golf star Jessica Bang’s family remember late teen, thank community for support
’It’s just such a shock to the family.’

Loved ones of Australian golfer Jessica Bang say they have been overwhelmed with messages of support following the talented teen’s death in Thailand.
Bang, 18, suffered a devastating brain haemorrhage and was rushed to hospital in Bangkok, where she had been preparing for a tournament.
She underwent emergency surgery and was on life support but sadly the Sydney-based athlete never recovered.

“We used to holiday in Bali and go skiing. We spent a lot of time together.
“It’s just such a shock to the family.”
‘We’re so, so grateful’
Bang was considered a rising star of her chosen sport and was affectionately known as “Rookie Bang”.
With her mum as her caddie, she claimed her first professional title — the 2026 Ford Women’s NSW Open Regional Qualifying Event — in February.
“I’m so happy, I can’t even put it into words,” Bang said of the win.
“It still doesn’t feel real yet. I did not expect this at all — big surprise.”
Her death on Thursday morning triggered an outpouring of condolences from friends, loved ones and the wider golfing community.
Family said they never anticipated the support that would flow their way in the wake of such tragic news.
That included generous donations for a GoFundMe launched by Bang’s heartbroken cousins to cover overseas medical costs.
“We’re so, so grateful and trying to send thank you messages to everyone,” the relative said.

Golf NSW said last week that Bang would be missed “deeply”.
“She was a talented golfer with a bright future ahead of her, and was well regarded for her kindness both on and off the course,” the sports body said.
“Our thoughts are with Jessica’s family, friends, and everyone in the golfing community who had the privilege of knowing her or watching her play.
“She will be deeply missed.”
