Alaska Airlines grounds all flights due to IT issue, ground stop in place

Alaska Airlines, which operates flights to Australia, has grounded all flights across its network, including those for some of its subsidiary airlines, over an IT issue.

The issue started on Thursday evening (local time), impacting flights around the globe.

“Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage affecting operations,” the airline said in a statement online.

“A temporary ground stop is in place.

“We apologise for the inconvenience.”

It’s the second time that Alaska Airlines has grounded all flights this year, with an IT issue affecting their entire fleet in July.

Responding to comments online, the airline added: “Our IT team is working to get this resolved as soon as possible.”
