Alexandra Marie Frost rushed toddler to hospital, caught on camera doing the unthinkable

A mother has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after doing the unthinkable to her two-year-old son while in the hospital.
Alexandra Marie Frost, 27, brought her toddler to the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital after the young boy had been suffering from “low blood sugar that required medical intervention”.
The case first came to light in March 2023 when the two-year-old’s health continued to deteriorate, and according to the police reports, the boy’s glucose levels would drop and then stabilise.

The two-year-old’s health continued to deteriorate, leading physicians to believe it was Munchausen syndrome by proxy, where a caregiver makes up or causes an illness or injury to a person.
On March 13, 2023, hospital staff activated a camera in the child’s room, and the following day, footage appeared to show the unthinkable.
Frost is holding a syringe and injecting her son in his foot, per the warrant.
“After injecting the toddler’s foot, the footage captures Frost walking to where the ‘SHARPS’ container is located and appears to place the syringe into the container,” according to police.
“Prior to the injections, the victim appeared to be calm, and when Frost injected his foot, the victim became agitated and screamed, consistent with being in pain.”
Frost was the only adult or caregiver reported to have access to the boy and was with her son at the hospital on a regular basis. After an investigation, Frost was sentenced to 10 years in prison for injecting her two-year-old son with insulin, which made him very ill.
Medical staff told investigators that getting injected with insulin can cause serious harm and could even lead to death.
After the young boy was removed from the care of Frost by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, he had no more issues with his health, and the toddler’s glucose levels returned to normal.
Frost pleaded guilty to child endangerment resulting in bodily injury and administering harmful substances.
