Thousands have also been ordered to evacuate as multiple wildfires continue to rampage.

Singer and actress Mandy Moore has hit back at claims she wasn’t financially helping her family who lost everything in the devastating LA wildfires after she shared their GoFundMe to social media.

Moore told online critics to “F off” following hateful comments she received on an Instagram posted where she shared a fundraiser for her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Griff and Kit Goldsmith.

The GoFundMe, started by Hilary Duff’s husband and musician Matthew Koma, has so far raised almost $A300,000 for the pair who lost their home in Altadena to one of the Los Angeles fires.

According to the fundraiser the pair are expecting their first child in a matter of weeks.

Moore, 40, shared that Griff was a touring musician who lost all of his instruments and said the soon-to-be parents needed “support now more than ever”.

“So many have asked how to help during this unimaginable and stressful time,” she said.

“Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild.”

However in response Moore received comments shaming her for sharing the fundraiser instead of donating some of her own money to the couple.

The This Is Us actress hit back, saying “of course” she had financially helped the couple, reminding her followers that her own home had been severely damaged in the disaster.

“People questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money Google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic,” she said.

“Of course we are. Our buddy Matt started this GoFundMe and I’m sharing because people have asked how they can help them.

“We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything.”

On Friday Moore shared pictures of the smoldering ruins of her home in Altadena saying the main part of the house was still standing but that it was “not liveable”.

“We lost our garage and back house. Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone,” she wrote on Instagram.

Anthony Hopkins, Adam Brody, Leighton Meester, Anna Farris and Billy Crystal are among a growing list of celebrities who have lost their homes or been affected by the Los Angeles fires.

The Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire already rank as the most destructive in Los Angeles history, consuming more than 13,750 ha — some 137 sq km or two-and-a-half times the land area of Manhattan — and turning entire neighbourhoods to ash.

The Palisades Fire is now 6 per cent controlled, while the Eaton Fire is still blazing out of control, according to California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

One rapidly growing blaze that broke out on Thursday near Calabasas, a wealthy enclave home to numerous celebrities and gated communities, was 35 per cent under control by early Friday, fire officials said. The so-called Kenneth Fire had expanded to 388 hectares in a matter of hours.

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed that an arson suspect was being held but would not comment on which fire was involved. Local media is reporting it is the Kenneth Fire.

Smaller fires were also putting pressure on overstretched firefighting resources. Firefighting crews managed to bring the Sunset Fire in the atop the Hollywood Hills fully under control on Thursday, after flames had engulfed a ridge overlooking Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Fame on Wednesday night.
