Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s daughters Beatrice and Eugenie use Phillips wedding to boost royal return
While most royal family members were visible for just seconds outside the wedding of Peter Phillips, the daughters of former prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor took a decidedly different approach.
The daughters of former prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor strategically co-ordinated their entrance at their cousin’s wedding in a high-exposure bid to maintain their position in the royal family following their father’s fall from grace, according to UK media.
The Daily Mail reported that princesses Beatrice and Eugenie used Saturday’s nuptials of cousin Peter Phillips in the Cotswolds in their first public appearance together since their father’s arrest in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
The Mail reported that more high-profile royals, including King Charles and Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton, were deposited at the gate of All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire, in a bid to limit the chances for waiting press to picture them.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.However, Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 36, arrived separately at a house next to the wedding venue, before making a “co-ordinated public entrance together” in a long walk to the church in front of waiting cameras with their respective husbands, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank.
It was a stark juxtaposition with the other royals - Charles and Camilla were only seen at the gate for just seconds as opposed to the former Duke of York’s daughters, who approached the press horde for over a minute.
The princesses’ combined appearance at the wedding of Phillips - the son of Princess Anne and a nephew of the King - and Harriet Sperling came less than a week after revelations Beatrice and Eugenie had failed to pay any rent after living at royal residences for years.
The pair - who have jobs and homes elsewhere - were quietly subsidised for years by their grandmother Queen Elizabeth in an arrangement which reportedly continues today under King Charles.
Eugenie spent 10 years living at St James’ Palace from 2008 to 2018, until she moved to Kensington Palace’s Ivy Cottage. That’s despite still boasting a $7 million home in Portugal.
Beatrice, who also has a luxury home in the Cotswolds, apparently still lives at the apartment with her husband Mr Mozzi.
The King pays both rents to the Royal Household from his own funds and not taxpayer money.
Phillips’ wedding marked their first public appearance with fellow Royal Family members since the Christmas Day church service held at Sandringham.
