Brown University shooting: Suspect who allegedly killed two students found dead, ending five-day manhunt

The man suspected of opening fire at Brown University in the United States, killing two, has been found dead in Salem, New Hampshire, bringing a tense manhunt to an end.
The suspect’s body was discovered after police swarmed an area where an abandoned vehicle was located, matching the description of the car believed to be connected to the suspect.
The shooter fled after opening fire from a 9mm gun on Saturday in a classroom, where outer doors had been left unlocked while exams were taking place, according to police.

“Tonight, our Providence neighbours can finally breathe a little easier,” Mayor Brett Smiley said.
“I want to thank the people of Providence for stepping up and coming together during an extraordinarily difficult time,” he said. “I know this has been hard on all of us. Over the past five days, minutes have felt like hours.”
“But the people of Providence have done what we’re best at: We’ve leaned on one another, come together and supported one another,” Mr Smiley said.
The suspect was a 48-year-old Portuguese National and student at Brown, authorities said at a press conference.
Claudio Manuel Nueves Valente took his life tonight, they said.
