A grim discovery in Brazil has shocked a local community after 16-year-old beauty queen and high school student Gabrielly Moreira was found dead inside an unfinished house in Cera.

Local emergency services discovered her body on September 19, according to a Colombian newspaper. Her father, Valbério Moreira, said she was found with bruises, a bloodstain on her chin, and two bottles of vodka nearby.

He reported that she had been out with friends at a bar before her death.

Ms Moreira was a well-known figure in Pedra Branca, where she had a large Instagram following and was celebrated for her pageant success.

In 2024, she was named Princess of the Pedra Branca Parade, and this year she was crowned Queen.

“Her presence was always synonymous with joy, charisma, and dedication, becoming a role model for the youth and the entire community,” the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Water Resources, which oversees the parade, wrote on Instagram.

“In this moment of grief, we stand in solidarity with family, friends and the entire population of Pedra Branca, praying to God to comfort their hearts and grant them the strength to overcome such a great loss,” the tribute continued.

Authorities confirmed that officers from the Pedra Branca Municipal Guard and state forensic officials attended the scene. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death, People reported.

Her school, Elza Gomes Martins Full-Time Middle School, also issued a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, remembering her for “the affection, joy and dedication that marked her coexistence among colleagues, teachers and the entire school community.”

“In this moment of pain and dismay, we stand in solidarity with family and friends, praying God to comfort their hearts and grant strength to face this irreparable loss,” the post read. “May you rest in peace.”

Ms Moreira was also crowned Queen of Corn at a local festival earlier this year, another recognition of her vibrant presence in community life.

“Your smile, your joy and your glow brought life to our parties, and your presence will always be remembered with affection,” the festival’s organisers wrote on Instagram.

“Today the crown bids farewell to its queen, but her reign will remain forever in the memory and hearts of all who had the honour of living with her.”
