WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has shared major family news in a rare personal post following his return to Australia.
Julian Assange has announced he and his wife Stella are expecting their third child, sharing the happy news in a rare social media post.
The Australian WikiLeaks founder revealed the pregnancy on X alongside a photograph of the couple, with Stella cradling her growing baby bump.
“October surprise,” Assange wrote.

The announcement marks another major chapter for the couple following Assange’s return to Australia in June 2024 after years of legal battles and imprisonment.
Stella also celebrated the pregnancy in a separate social media post, thanking those who had campaigned for her husband’s release.
She said the couple had “happy news”.
“This new life would not have been possible without all those who fought to bring Julian Assange home,” she wrote on social media.
The baby will be the couple’s third child together.
Assange and Stella are already parents to two sons, Gabriel and Max, who were secretly conceived while Assange was living inside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
The pair began a relationship while Stella was working as part of Assange’s legal team and kept the existence of their children private during his lengthy legal battle.
Assange spent years inside the embassy before later being jailed in the United Kingdom as the United States sought his extradition.
His lengthy fight came to an end in June 2024 when he struck a plea deal with US authorities that allowed him to leave a UK prison and return to Australia.
His arrival on Australian soil marked the end of a years-long extradition battle and brought Assange back home for the first time in more than a decade.
Assange largely remained out of the public spotlight following his release and rarely posted on social media.
That changed in September when he returned to X after an eight-year absence.
“I’m back,” he wrote on X on September 18.
Days later, Assange used the platform to share the news that he and Stella were preparing to welcome another child.
