The men accused of the fatal prison attack on child killer Kyle Bevan have been identified.

Three of Bevan’s fellow inmates have been charged with his murder after he was found dead in his cell at high-security HMP Wakefield Prison on November 5.

The 33-year-old was serving a life sentence with a minimum period of 28 years for the murder of his partner’s two-year-old daughter Lola James.

It is understood he was found with head and neck injuries.

Bevan was behind bars for fatally injured Lola on July 17, 2020 by hitting her repeatedly in what was described by police as a “savage attack”.

During his trial, the court was told Lola had been subjected to a “brutal, frenzied and violent attack at the hands of somebody she should have been able to trust”.

She sustained 101 external injuries which included bruises and grazes all over her body.

Lola was was left “limp and unresponsive” but Bevan did not raise the alarm. Instead, he searched online for information on how to wake an unconscious child.

He then sent photos and videos of Lola to his own mother while his partner, Sinead James, was sleeping.

An entire hour passed before help was called to the Princess Royal Way home in Haverfordwest.

Just days after the attack, Lola tragically died from her injuries.

Mark Fellows, 45, Lee Newell, 56, and David Taylor, 63 have all been charged with Bevan’s murder and appeared in Leeds Magistrates’ Court via videolink for separate one-minute-long hearings on Friday.

During his appearance, when asked if he understood the charge, Taylor reportedly replied: “Absolutely not, I’m innocent” according to Daily Mail.

Fellows and Newell acknowledged that they understood.

Located in West Yorkshire, around 260km north of London, HMP Wakefield Prison has a notorious reputation and was the scene of another alleged murder in October, that of Lost Prophets frontman and convicted paedophile Ian Watkins.

Two other prisoners, Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, have been charged with that murder.

HMP Wakefield Prison is a category A prison, which means it houses male prisoners who if they were to escape pose the biggest threat to the public, police or national security.

Bevan’s accused killers are due to appear in Leeds Crown Court on November 10.
