The foul footage shows the unaware leader cop a mouthful during official Lunar New Year celebrations.

Grim footage of Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te coping the full brunt of a sick attendee during official Lunar New Year celebrations has gone viral.
The stomach-churning clip shows a number of local officials standing around a podium during the event.
As the proceedings continued, Chief of the Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple Lin Pei-huo was stood next to the President and started looking a little under the weather, frantically searching for an exit route.

However, it was too little too late as Lin quickly covered his mouth - trying to fight the urge of a projectile vomit that eventually won out, spraying through the gaps in his fingers and palm, all in front of a shocked crowd.
The distinguished leader, wearing a red Taiwan hoodie, was oblivious to the situation until he copped a spraying - getting caught in the splash zone as Lin attempted to leave the stage.

Despite his best efforts to shield the president, Lai was sprayed on his shoulder as the chairman stumbled away to a table that he could lean on.
The 66-year-old President then turned around to check on Lin before medical staff rushed to his side.
The proceedings were temporarily paused before Lai addressed the gross incident to disgusted patrons, apologising to guests and explaining that Lin’s family had recently contracted norovirus - which the chairman was clearly suffering side effect of.
