Online influencer Melissa Mae Carlton has revealed that her young daughter Molly died on Christmas Day, just a year after announcing the loss of another child.

In April 2024, Carlton announced that her daughter Abigail, whom she shared with husband Tom Carlton, died aged nine.

Abigail, who was nine, died after a battle with sepsis.

“Our sweet Abigail unexpectedly passed over to the other side,” Carlton wrote in 2024.

“There are no words to express how heartbroken and devastated we are.”

Now, just over a year on, Carlton has shared the devastating news with her followers that the couple have lost another child.

“On Christmas morning, our sweet Molly girl, and her big sister Abi were reunited,” Carlton wrote on Instagram.

“We are devastated. In disbelief. Confused and in shock.

“We are exhausted and shaken after a day filled with trauma and heartbreak.“I feel numb. I cannot yet accept that this is real. I am not ready for this pain.”

Carlton, who openly discusses her faith with her followers, said had found a “small sense of comfort” in the belief that her two children were together again.

“This is the only thing giving me even a small sense of comfort. Molly missed her sister so deeply. She would often ask me, ‘Mummy, when is Jesus coming back so Abi can come down?,” she wrote.

“I am scared of what life looks like now for us. I am heartbroken for our children.”

In an additional post on Instagram shared hours later, Carlton said she felt that she needed to provide “further details” about the tragic second death of a child, saying “there has been some speculation”.

“I hesitate to share a medical update already because we still don’t have an official diagnosis,” the grieving mother wrote.

“But I do feel it’s important to let people know that we have some answers this time.

“The doctors believe Molly had a genetic heart condition and suspect this may have been the case with Abi as well.

“I’m sharing this because I believe it could be critical information for families who have experienced SUDC (sudden unexpected death in children).”

Carlton said doctors have informed the family even a minor illness could “trigger a sudden cardiac event” if Molly had a heart condition.

“Paramedics were stationed just three minutes away and arrived quickly,” Carlton said, sharing new details about the emergency response.

“The pediatric trauma centre was only fifteen minutes from where we were.

“We were in the best possible place, with everything aligned for the best conditions and the best outcome.

“Her little body fought so hard. But we’ve been told that this type of cardiac event is, in most cases, not survivable.”

Carlton and her husband also share children Harry and Lily.
