Mountaineer falls 300 metres to his death in Germany

A 43-year-old man has died after falling more than 300 meters off Germany’s highest mountain.

Police said the man was climbing the Zugspitze in southern Germany with another mountaineer via the Höllental, which translates as Hell Valley, on Friday when he slipped and fell.

The man was reportedly killed immediately.

Investigators said the accident was not caused by another person.

The body was only recovered on Saturday morning due to adverse weather conditions.
