Nicki Minaj in hot water after calling JD Vance an ‘assassin’ while sitting next to Erika Kirk

Nicki Minaj is in hot water after an awkward encounter with Erika Kirk, the widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The Grammy-nominated rapper sat down with Ms Kirk on Sunday at Turning Point USA’s annual AmericaFest.
Since her husband’s death, Ms Kirk took on the role of CEO at Turning Point, a nonprofit organisation that advocates for conservative politics among youth.

“Dear young men, you have amazing role models like our handsome, dashing president and you have amazing role models like the assassin JD Vance, our vice president,” she told the crowd.
Realising the awkward slip of the tongue while sitting next to Ms Kirk, whose husband was assassinated only months ago, Minaj covered her mouth and looked away silently.
Attempting to diffuse the awkward situation, Ms Kirk told Minaj, “there is nothing new under the sun that I have not heard,” and followed up with: “I love you”.
She then addressed the crowd saying “you have to laugh about it, truly”.
“I have been called every single thing, and you know what? God is so good you let it roll right off your back.”

Aware that the moment may be clipped online, Ms Kirk described Minaj as an “amazing woman.”
“She has a soul and a heart for the Lord, and words are words.
“But I know her heart, and it doesn’t even matter.”
In recent years, Minaj has openly backed America’s right-wing faction, becoming one of the more prominent voices in the pop-culture sphere.
“We’re the cool kids,” she said to the audience.
“The other people, they’re the ones who are still just disgruntled, but really they’re just disgruntled with themselves.”
After singing the praises of both Donald Trump and JD Vance she said, “I love both of them”.
“Both of them have a very uncanny ability to be someone that you relate to.”
The pop star lost hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers in the days after going on stage at AmericaFest, but now it seems she’s deactivated her account entirely.
She is still active on X, however, where she shared photos from her time on stage with Ms Kirk.
