We’ve all been children once and we’ve all experienced the fear of having a monster under the bed.

So when an anxious youngster complained to their babysitter about just that, she comforted the child, reassured them it was in their imagination and went to prove it.

But she got the shock of her life when a real “monster” jumped out from under the bed and knocked her over.

Martin Villalobos was allegedly hiding under the child’s bed in a home in Kansas in the mid-western US on March 24 when he was found by the babysitter.

The 27-year-old, who used to live at the home, had a struggle with the babysitter before feeling.

“One child complained there was a ‘monster’ under their bed,” a police statement said.

“When the victim attempted to show the child there was nothing under the bed, she came face-to-face with a male suspect who was hiding there.

“An altercation ensued with the babysitter and one child was knocked over in the struggle.

“The suspect then fled the scene before deputies arrived.”

Police arrested Mr Villalobos the next day.

Court records show that he had been given bail 10 days earlier after being charged with criminal threat, domestic battery and violating a protection from abuse order.
