A woman has been slapped with a correctional order and fines after she sent a series of malicious ‘fart selfies’ to her former partner’s new girlfriend.

Rhiannon Evans, 25, faced court in the UK over harassment charges following the delivery of multiple videos to Deborah Prytherch via WhatsApp that showed her farting.

The court was told multiple “inappropriate” videos were sent to Ms Prytherch after she entered a relationship with Evan’s ex-partner.

Prosecutor Diane Williams told the Caernarfon court that the first of the videos showed Evans “placing the camera on her bottom and passing the gas”.

After the first video, three ‘fart selfies’ were sent by Evans to Ms Prytherch on December 22, with Ms Williams saying four more were sent on December 23.

Videos were again sent on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

In some videos, Evans could be seen “smiling at the camera” as she passed gas.

Prosecutors said: “It was purely malicious. She was smirking throughout, found it hilarious but the victim didn’t.”

The flurry of revolting videos made Ms Prytherch anxious and distressed, she told the court, adding: “I would like to feel safe in my home.”

Evans was arrested at her Caernarfon home after the videos were reported to police.

In court, she pleaded guilty to sending the videos, explaining that she did so because she believed her former partner “was being treated unfairly”.

Evans’ defence lawyer, Harriet Gorst, told the court there were ongoing child contact issues between Evans and her former partner, adding alcohol was involved in the multiple incidents.

“At the time she sent these videos she had some drinks and she sent them, understanding now this has caused the victim some distress,” she said.

After being slapped with a 12-month community order, a two-month restraining order, 15 months of alcohol rehabilitation sessions, a 60-month alcohol abstinence order, a $400 fine and an order to pay $200 in compensation, Evans told The Sun her sentence was “excessive”.

“I never thought farting would land me in court. I think the sentence is a bit excessive and dramatic,” she said.

“We are living in a very ‘snowflake’ generation.

“I sent the messages on WhatsApp. I do have regrets, but I wouldn’t have thought I would be here for something like this, to be honest. It’s petty.

“I’ve learned my lesson.”

The case is Britain’s first known cyber-fart case.
