Trump responds to Andrew's arrest with ‘sad’ remark
US President Donald Trump has responded to the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, calling the situation “a very sad thing” and shifting focus to King Charles.
Speaking about the former prince, Mr Trump said, “I think it’s a very sad thing”.
Mr Trump continued, “To see what’s going on with his brother, who’s to our country very a fantastic man, the King. So I think it’s a very sad.”
The President appeared to centre his comments on King Charles, describing him as “a fantastic man”, rather than addressing the circumstances of the arrest directly.
Police release statement after releasing former prince Andrew
A statement has been issued after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was released from custody in the UK.
Thames Valley Police arrested the former prince on suspicion of misconduct in public office, but have now allowed him to leave the lock-up.
“Thames Valley Police is able to provide an update in relation to an investigation into the offence of misconduct in public office,” the statement said.
“On Thursday we arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
“The arrested man has now been released under investigation.
“We can also confirm that our searches in Norfolk have now concluded.”

Police searching properties occupied by Andrew
UK media is reporting that teams of police are searching properties linked to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor after the former prince was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, was detained at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on Thursday.
Police launched an investigation into his dealings with the convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein amid claims he shared sensitive information with the disgraced financier while serving as the UK’s trade envoy.
Vans carrying police officers arrived at the Royal Lodge residence on Thursday afternoon, where a search of Andrew’s former home is continuing.

Disgraced former prince, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct after an unprecedented investigation in Britain’s modern era.
As UK police investigate widespread allegations emerging from the Jeffrey Epstein files, the royal was sensationally taken into police custody over allegations related to his time as a trade envoy.
The ousted royal, who was marking his 66th birthday on Thursday, was arrested at the Sandringham estate in eastern England where Andrew now resides.
The former prince was last year stripped of all his titles, having been forced out of his former home by his brother King Charles.
Thames Valley police said in a statement that as part of the investigation into Andrew they had “today arrested a man in his 60s from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office”.
The statement went on to say officers were carrying out searches at two addresses in Berkshire and in Norfolk.
