A second portrait posted along side it captures Archie and his younger sister, Princess Lilibet, playing together against a backdrop of sweeping mountain ranges.
Prince Archie, born May 6, 2019, at the private Portland Hospital in London, is sixth in line to the throne. Several months after his birth he was christened Archie Harrison at a private chapel in Windsor.
He was 10 months old when his parents quit life in the UK to move to California, where the family-of-four resides to this day.
The Sussexes rarely share photos of their two children, with posts largely reserved for birthday celebrations.
Ms Markle posted a photo of Prince Harry and Lilibet on the young Princess’ birthday on June 4 last year.
The pair of pictures showed a swaddled Lilibet being held by her father next to an image of the two walking hand in hand among a row of palm trees.
The birthday tribute follows a familiar royal tradition, arriving shortly after Princess Kate and Prince William released a new photograph of their daughter, Princess Charlotte, to mark her eleventh birthday.
Princess Kate and Prince William shared a photo at the weekend to celebrated the 11th birthday of Princess Charlotte with the release of a new photograph of the young royal.
Charlotte was pictured standing in a patch of white flowers as she smiled broadly in a black and red striped jumper and jeans.
The portrait, captured by award-winning royal family and environmental photographer Matt Porteous, was shared across the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official social media accounts.
The new snap quickly garnered widespread attention from royal fans, with many pointing out similarities between the young royal and her dad, Prince William, saying “she looks just like her papa”.
