A bride-to-be has died in a horrific crash during her hens party celebrations in Greece just weeks before she was due to walk down the aisle.

Sara Ceccantini, a 37-year-old mother from Italy, was celebrating with loved ones on the popular Greek Island of Mykonos ahead of her wedding when the fatal crash occurred.

According to Italian media outlet, Union Sarda, details around the circumstances of the crash remain minimal as police continue to investigate.

Early reports into the fatality suggest the deadly crash occurred when another vehicle crossed into the lane Ms Ceccantini was in, news.com.au reports.

Ms Ceccantini was taken to a hospital in Athens in a critical condition by first responders, but she was unable to be saved and died hours later.

The harrowing crash also left Ms Ceccantini’s friend with serious injuries, The Sun reports.

News of Ms Ceccantini’s passing devastated her hometown of Arezzo in Tuscany, where friends, family and colleagues have been mourning her death.

She worked for luxury fashion giant Prada’s headquarters in Valvigna, with the workplace confirming her death on Tuesday and deciding to close the factory to mourn.

Arezzo Mayor Marcello Comanducci paid tribute to Ms Ceccantini in a heartfelt statement.

“This news leaves us speechless,” he said.

“The tragic passing of Sara Ceccantini has profoundly affected our entire community. A young life cut short too soon, just as she was preparing to experience one of the most beautiful moments of her life.”

Mr Comanducci expressed his “deepest sympathy to her family, her loved ones, and all those who loved her”.

Ms Ceccantini leaves behind her fiance, Luca Bugiali, and her three-year-old daughter.
