Woman assaulted on ferry in Bali

A solo female traveller has captured the moment she was allegedly attacked by an Australian family while on a ferry in Bali.

The mother and daughter launched into a tirade of abuse after the victim refused to move seats so the family could sit together.

The victim said the verbal argument turned physical when she stood up for herself against the abuse.

“I took the maruti ferry from Penida to Sanur. There was a big group of Australian tourists (seemingly family) of which the middle-age lady member was asking me to move seats so that her family can sit together,” she wrote on Reddit.

“There was no other space on lower deck of the ferry — I turned down her request and she and her daughter started to yell and say bad things about me.

“I talked back saying that it’s a public ferry and her daughter told me to shut up or she will punch me in the face and it escalated — she punched me in the face and broke my sunglasses.”

In the shocking footage she shared online, the daughter can be seen storming over to the victim and attempting to grab the phone from her hands while telling her to “shut up”.

The victim then screamed “she assaulted me”, prompting the Aussie mum to yell from her seat: “You initiated it you little bitch.”

“Do not blame my f**king kid, because you initiated it. You assaulted yourself you stupid idiot,” the mum continued.

A passenger sat in front of the victim tells staff on the ferry that the Australian family started the incident.

The victim told staff she hadn’t moved from her seat, saying “she came over to this asile and slapped me”.

The young girl, who claims to be 17 years old hit back, saying: “Shut up! I’m going to f**king punch you again.”

The victim explained in her Reddit post that after disembarking the ferry, the family left quickly and she was not able to speak with police.

She is now seeking legal advice about the incident.
