Thailand: At least 22 killed after construction crane crushes passenger train
At least 22 people have been killed and dozens more injured after a construction crane fell on top of a moving train in Thailand.
The train, which was carrying 195 passengers at the time of the incident, was leaving the nation’s capital of Bangkok and heading towards the country’s northeast.
A construction crane being used to build a high-speed elevated railway fell on the train carriages around 10am AWST on Wednesday.

The fire has since been extinguished, however rescuers have confirmed 22 individuals have been killed as a result of the accident.
BBC has reported 79 other passengers are injured, with eight of those wounded having severe injuries.
The death toll is expected to climb as rescuers continue removing bodies from the train wreckage.
Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Phipat Ratchakitprakarn, has ordered a “thorough and comprehensive” investigation into the cause behind the accident.
Thai officials are yet to confirm if any foreign nationals were on board the train.
