Robert Irwin has danced his way into the record books after winning Dancing With The Stars and becoming the second Irwin to claim the coveted Mirrorball trophy.

The 20-year-old wildlife warrior followed in his older sister Bindi’s footsteps, sealing the win in the grand finale after he and partner Witney Carson gained the most public votes.

Bindi famously won the trophy in 2015, charming audiences with her powerhouse partnership with Derek Hough.

The latest win makes the Irwins the first siblings in the world to both be crowned Dancing With The Stars champions.

Taking to social media after the huge win, Bindi was among the first to congratulate Robert, saying “two Mirrorballs now call Australia Zoo home”.

“Congratulations and all the love in the world to @robertirwinphotography and @witneycarson. What. A. Night,” she added before sharing another video of the pair hugging and crying.

Fans were ecstatic over Robert’s win, with one commenting: “Our Mirrorball champs so happy for Robert & Witney.”

Another user said” “AND IM CRYING!! SO HAPPY FOR ROBERT!!”

Despite Robert heading into the finale with a painful rib injury, he and Carson put their best foot forward to deliver three near-perfect routines.

For Irwin’s second performance in the Instant Dance Challenge, he picked the cha cha to Cake By the Ocean by DNCE.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said he was “on fire,” while Carrie Ann Inaba said Robert’s partnership with Carson is what makes the pair a success.

Derek Hough said he was nervous for Irwin at first, adding that the dance was “so hard”, but was ultimately impressed.

All three judges awarded the couple perfect scores.

After the competing celebrities and their partners completed three dances each, Alix Earle topped the leader board with a score of 90.

Robert Irwin and Jordan Chiles were second with a score of 89, Dylan Efron and Elaine Hendrix were in third and fourth place with scores of 87 and 88, respectively.
