Police said the bodily harm charge was in relation to an assault on a police office in a custody suite after the initial incident took place in Huntingdon.

A rail staff member who attempted to intervene during the incident remains in a life-threatening condition. Five others who were injured have since been discharged from hospital.

Mr Williams will appear before Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning (UK time).

He is yet to be pictured.

Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said “support for the victims is a priority for the British Transport Police”.
